1. Adapting the "Three Cs" for Off-Site Constraints

A standard Concern, Cause, and Correction narrative is insufficient for mobile work. Technicians must contextualize the repair within the specific off-site environment to justify the higher costs and potential labor variances associated with mobile service.

  1. CONCERN: Beyond the customer's complaint, document the environmental variables and logistical constraints.
  2. Example: "Customer reports engine derate. Unit located in a remote logging site with limited cellular connectivity, necessitating the use of a satellite hotspot for ECU communication and cloud-based diagnostics."
  3. CAUSE: Identify the root failure and explain why it required a mobile response rather than a shop visit.
  4. Example: "Failed DEF header prevented vehicle movement. Site conditions (unpaved, 15% grade) prohibited safe towing to the dealership, necessitating on-site mobile repair to restore mobility."
  5. CORRECTION: Detail the specific mobile assets deployed and the steps taken to mitigate site challenges.

2. Management of Mobile-Specific Line Items
